Welcome Dr. Fatima Tiwana

The Dental Specialists are excited to welcome periodontist, Dr. Fatima Tiwana!

Dr. Tiwana is practicing at our Plymouth location. In 2006, Dr. Tiwana graduated with her bachelors in dental surgery from Jinnah Dental College in Karachi, Pakistan. A decade later, she obtained her masters degree in clinical periodontics and dental implant surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in Detroit, Michigan. The following year, she became board certified by the American Board of Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery.

Dr. Tiwana is a part of many organizations. She is a Diplomate on the American Board of Periodontology, a member of the Minnesota Periodontal Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and Midwest Society of Periodontology. 

What Dr. Tiwana enjoys most about periodontics is helping people treat their periodontal disease and peri implant disease by guiding them on how to prevent it in the future. If a tooth cannot be saved due to various reasons, she also enjoys placing dental implants as a final option, if they are good healthy candidates for it. "I chose periodontics because the mouth is connected to the whole body and if I am successful in treating periodontal disease, I am successful in helping my patients prevent or control a lot of systemic diseases as well," said Dr. Tiwana. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Tiwana loves to spend time with family, go to the gym, and travel while exploring new places and different cuisines.
